My first destination, the honeymoon destination was Srilanka. I still remember that everyone believed that it was a no-good place to go for a holiday…but I had to change the opinion, being very secretive of my choice of destination, I planned my trip to the Eden beach resort at Beruvella, (2 hrs drive from Colombo) & the only other person to know my choice & biggest help in my planning was Mrs. Asha Kumar, in charge of Sri Lankan Airlines.
Srilanka truly turned out to be a dream destination with its virgin beaches, stunning resorts, peaceful surrounding… Boarding the Srilankan airlines, we reached Colombo with little apprehension of what it would be like…outside the airport was a smartly dressed chuffer with an A/C car waiting for us with a name placard. He was our guide for the next 5 days. The clean roads and peaceful surrounding (no car horns at all) made our 2hrs drive from Colombo to Beruvella very smooth.
The Eden Resort & Spa (5* resort) had an amazing beach view from our balcony making our holiday perfectly romantic. The resort served a wonderful breakfast followed by a whole day to relax & explore the beach & its surroundings.

Our first destination was the Glass boat ride to see the Coral reeves, it was beautiful to see and touch those colorful corals & several types of fishes surrounding the boat. Continuing our boat ride we were taken to the backwaters which looked like an out of a movie scene…we could see small snakes, crocodiles on tree tops…a heavenly experience.

The next destination, probably the most beautiful was an island just 10 mints away from our resort by boat…it was a secluded island with just a single resort on it which was said to be destroyed during the Tsunami…we reached there by boat & were given 2 hrs time till we were picked up & taken back.

On our way back from sightseeing, the driver suggested a very small restaurant on the sea shore, here sea food was delicious & that was probably the best meal that we had had for those 3 days that we stayed at Beruvella. On day2 &3 we went around to other beaches at Bentota, Gale & a museum, we also saw the places which were destroyed after tsunami...

Before coming back to Hyderabad we stayed at Colombo for a day at the Galadhari hotel. Visited the malls at the Colombo & did some souvenir shopping.
It is a place for relaxation & worth visiting.
Places to vist: Coral island tour, Bentota beach, Gale, Museum, Kandy.
